Steamer WILLIAM G. MATHER (US 224850) built by Great Lakes Engineering Works, River Rouge, MI in 1925 (hull #250) for Cleveland-Cliffs Steamship Company. Dimensions: 601'-0" x 62'-0" x 27'-7", 8662 GT. Repowered w/steam turbine in 1954. Flagship of the Cleveland-Cliffs fleet 1925-1952. Donated to Great Lakes Historical Society on December 10, 1987 for use as museum ship in Cleveland.

The upbound MATHER is arriving at the Soo on August 1, 1980.
