As a model railroader myself I'm guessing you are planning to build a "convincing representation" of a whaleback to include on your railroad, likely from the waterline up. If so, Google search A.J. FISHER then click <PLANS and scroll down to JOHN ERICSSON WHALEBACK. These plans contain enough information to produce a decent model. If you want to load the model with deck detail and plating strakes the book MCDOUGALL'S GREAT LAKES WHALEBACKS by Neel R. Zoss (available at Amazon.com) has many whaleback photos from various angles and is a great reference. Good luck!
